Hi to all, I have a dilema with the installation of Windows Xp Pro.
My system is a pentium 4 3.0gig with a GA-8IPE775 board , 1000mb ddr ram, with a ATI 9800 SE AGP 8x256mb video card. I built the system brand new and set it up with a new 120 gig drive freshly formatted. The system ran perfectly until i installed the motherboard drivers and then the screen completely went mad, it had coloured lines and squares and all sorts of jigsaw looking shapes all over it. It was impossible to see. I fitted an old tnt2 video card and it fired up perfectly. I did another fresh install and this time downloaded the drivers from gigabyte themselves but found as soon as i installed the chipset driver i was back to were i was( no screen). I did another fresh install but this time installed the ATI drivers first , it was running fine at this stage and then i installed the chipset driver and then had no monitor again. Not sure what to do next. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Update the motherboard BIOS.

Install the latest Intel chipset drivers *from Intel* FIRST:

www.intel.com

Install the *latest* ATi drivers last. If you have to, install older ATi drivers.

You should always install chipset drivers first.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I have done another fresh format and install and installed the drivers from the motherboard disk but this made no difference. So i then downloaded the latest drivers from intel and this made no difference at all either.
So i am really stumped now.

Like BPB said, install the Intel drivers first. Do NOT install the drivers from the CD.
