However, if it is DDR RAM, you can generally put a stick of PC3200 in, and it will self-adjust to the appropriate speed (either DDR 400, 333, or 266 speeds). Everest should tell you what type of motherboard your system has, from there you can search for the motherboard manual and see if that board has any limitations on what memory you can buy (number of chips, banks, etc.) Or, instead of doing all that, you can go to crucial.com, and find your specific model, and see what the Crucial memory utility says you need: http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.asp?Mfr%2BProductline=eMachines%2B+Deskt ops&mfr=eMachines&tabid=AM&model=W2888&submit=Go It says PC2700 RAM is what you need, so you should be able to buy either PC2700 or PC3200 (whatever is cheaper), and it will self-adjust to the appropriate speed. rmanet 06-25-2006, 11:44 AM plenty of PC3200 with rebates out there and MJC's right - it's backward compatible and probably your cheapest option - not sure but CompUSA had some bargains but not sure if they're still available just so when your eMachine has problems (keep your fingers crossed :) ) you can use the ram in another comp as an upgrade SysOpt.com
