What version of mouseware are you using? Here is a link to the newest ones.

Maybe try deleting "universal serial bus controller" from device manager and let windows reinstall the drivers for it.

I do have the latest version of software from Logitech. As far as removing the USB controller, all I do is remove it from Device Manager and then Win98 will recognize that and reinstall the controller when I restart? Any potential problems by doing that? Thanks for the reply.

I just recently picked up a new Logitech Mouseman Wheel USB. First, I installed the software per the manual and then hooked up the mouse to the USB port. When Win98 came up it said that it could not find a mouse attached to the computer. I tried both USB ports with same result. Then I tried the PS2 port using the adapter that came with the mouse. I got a windows protection error and could only bring win98 up in safe mode. I called Logitech and they had me remove the old mouse drivers and some registry stuff which allowed my new mouse to work with the PS2 port. But they couldn't help me get it to work in the USB ports? Any ideas on why this would be? I don't have any other USB devices to try. My system specs are:
Celeron 400
ABIT BX6 Rev2
128 RAM
Voodoo3 2000
MX300 Sound Card
SupraMax 56k Modem
Win98 Second Edition
I would really like to get this to work with the USB ports so any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Have you checked your BIOS? Your USB ports may be disabled.

Yes, you can safely delete the USB within Windows and reboot.
And do what Y Cymro says.
You might also want to surf ABIT's web-site to see if they have a specific USB Bus driver for your board.
