They've grown so much since I took those pictures yesterday

Wish they could just stay that size.

Hopefully there are 2 males and 2 females. Then I can have the males neutered and keep a male and female together. Keeping the same sex together will only lead to fighting!

6 years is about right for a rabbit in my experience German. I get very emotional when any of mine die :(

Yeh just the father and the mother. One sunday someone thought they'd both like to be free in the garden together. And snowball did the business. First time lucky hehe.

My other two died last year :( One had a stroke. And the other died of lonliness from missing the first one :(

They are cute!

BTW: Es ist "hasenpfeffer" mit "pf" und es ist mehr wie ein fricassee. You can make a stew from the leftovers.

i never eat hasenpfeffer, i dont eat rabbits . . . . . ( hasen )No. And thanks for not making fun of my grammar. There is some Schwaben influence.

Lived for a while in the Stuttgart-Vaihingen area but spent a lot of time in Bayern and around the landkreis Neu-Ulm.

I like it, but have to try to forget what the main ingredient looks like before preparation. Get a recipe and substitute chicken - it'll be close enough.

Of course, as soon as you do that, all hope is lost and you gotta move to texas with all the other nuts!

I'm really surprised that no one has posted something along these lines:

Rabbit Stew

2 cups buttermilk
1 rabbit
flour
salt and pepper
3 tablespoons butter
1 cup corn
2 large potatoes, cubed
1/4 teaspoon cayenne
1 large onion, diced
2 cups fresh tomatoes

Cut rabbit into pieces. Marinate in buttermilk for 2 hours; drain.

In a large bowl, mix flour, salt and pepper. Dredge rabbbit pieces in flour.

In a large Dutch oven, heat the butter over medium-high heat. Add the rabbit pieces and brown on each side. Add the corn, potatoes, cayenne and onions; fill with salted water until Dutch oven is 3/4 full., Cover and bring to a boill, then reduce heat and simmer for 11/2 to 2 hours. Add the tomatoes and continue to simmer another hour.

Serves 4
