played it now for 30 minutes and WOW, amazing :D

not much "action" yet but the atmosphere is great, you really feel like if your in that citadel

have a bf2 clan war now :( so ill be playing in 2 hours again

Twelve quid well spent.

Okay so its short (about four hours tops) - but at least it doesnt resort to what Sin:Emergence did to try and elongate the gamer (i.e. crank the difficulty up to "stupid" if you were progressing too quickly and swamp you with waves of enemies).

Its essentially a "more of the same" title - however when its more HL2 thats no bad thing. Theres not much added to the mix, but what is there adds to the gameplay quite a bit, the need to "block" antlion pits adds another dimension to gameplay and turns it into somethign of a "multi-tasking FPS", whiel the "Zombines" mean you have to alter your approach to zombie combat. It's also a nice touch having Alyx constantly by your side, and the AI on display there in particular is brilliant.

Short, but all in all, worth getting hold of, even if only just to further your knowledge of the HL universe/story (though you'll find a good game in there to boot ;))

Took me about 6 hours to complete, but I tend to spend quite some time sitting back and enjoying the view. :) And yeah, the EP2 trailer looks sweet :D

MJ..Why don't you rename those sceenie to reflect something one can open online?? The link does not wk for me... probalby the ( _ ) symbols..

I guess i feel just a bit envious because i will have to travel to an outlet here and pick this up for the full cost..$19.99 , but thats no biggie. I waited till i got HL2 at a good price.... ( no C.C'.s )

probably get it this week if its avail. now at Target

Great game. Visuals are a great improvement from the original. HDR, bloom, refraction effects, and lighting on characters are all incredible. I can't wait to see Ep 2.

Took me about 3 hours to complete btw. :t

For a serial type episode .. that is how they are planning on continuing the ongoing saga... bit by bit.... But like most of you agreed... quality is more important than quanity....

For a full game i thought HL2 was just about right in length... If you looked at it in a way of spending like $38.00-$40.00 for two episodes then that might equal the cost of one full game on sale ..so ??

You all got my attention..... Will go to Target this weekend and pick it up I suppose. I need somethng new to play... since its been like eight months since i purchased any game... ;)

Got to wait until Novemeber for episode two... dont know if i can really wait that long :'-(.

Length isnt that massive an issue with this though to be honest, as these days most games tend to be on the short but sweet side (most recently Hitman Blood Money lasted me little more than four hours, but what a four hours - that said i'm more of a Victor than a Leon - one for the movie buffs there ;)).

If one thing though, HL2 Ep1 shows how Sin:Emergence wasnt actually that great a game, it was solid enough, but for you £12 you get so much more out of Ep1 in terms of gameplay quality and variety.

Still, One episode down, two to go.

wow it been awhile since I've checked up on what games are out, I'll have to pick up hl2-ep1
I'm wonder what ever happened to that shepard guy from opposing force?
Dunno bout you guys but I think it'd be cool if one of the episodes threw you in the ruins of the black mesa. I know in hl2 we sorta got to see the outside of the black mesa. :t

Keep hoping... Could be some future espisode might incorporate that area....

I did not pick the game up yet as i said i would..., but more than likely will get it sometime this coming week... Whats a lousy $3.00 savings and some lost time...

Has anybody played any of the two online new games they said it comes with??

I would like to know what happend to him, I never beat oppsoing force though so I have no idea how it ends (maybe they'll remake it in the source engine)

I still think a little romp through the ruins of the black mesa would be cool though :t

No real spoilers in saying this, as a lot more of the "contentious storyline" lie around the topic of Race X - at the end of OpFor (IIRC) Adrian Shephard gets taken onto the G-Mans books ala Gordon Freeman at the end of HL1

I think the only time we'll get another chance to look at Black Mesa again will be in the "Black Mesa: Source" mod or HL3 - i cant see the next two episodes of HL2 having a plot device that manages to transport Gordon from (what loosk to be) the Czech Republic all the way back to Texas (afterall, pure conjection, but one of the plot assumptions of the relocation to City 17 was that the North American continent had been totally decimated during the Seven Hour War)

bought episode 1 yesterday and beet it yesterday, great fun, but was sad it was over so soon.
Yeah I guess it'll be doubtful to see the black mesa again in one of the episodes, the impression I got from episode 1 is that these episodes are really just empty filler to tide us over (like a salad before the meal) until we get a half life 3, which I would guess would be the ending to the tale.

Episode 1 was quite fun, (except for close to the end escorting all them civilians got tedious)
I'm hoping at least in the next few episodes we'll see some new weapons or some old ones return (like that bee gun, reail cannon or the arc gun, i can't remember the real names)

I dunno if I missed something in hl2 but what happened to the military, like the ones trying to erase you at the black mesa, there's nothing but "civilians" left. I would like to know how much time passed after you escape the black mesa.
anyhoo, so many questions doubt many will ever be answered by the end of the game :t

I got it, I havent played it yet, Im playing HL2 over again and then Im going to jump right into HL.E.1 milking the game for what it worth :)

OK I got the game yesterday and just got done playing it for awhile.... and I am now at a stump point for me...

Could someone tell me or P.M. me about what to do next upon finally at the top near the energy ball ( big Orb ). Figured thy wanted you to get by it to the ohter walkway.....always get killed...and so i jumped down to the lower level...but i know thats not the way....

Good so far .. and i second the visuals as being the best thing up till now.... Hoping for more heavy action.... pretty free roaming right now.. lol

Just finished the game... it was OK.... I give it a 8/10 which is pushing it.

For those who like puzzles there are some tough ones here and there....to keep the game interesting.... ( i had to check a WT in a few spots to get through )

Graphics are good as usual... Mostly its just you and Alex running to get here and there and to get out of the city... i got kind of bored in spots... but overall its a good pickup..esp. if you want to evolve and follow thew whole continuing story.

Not as much replay value i think as the whole HL2 game was.... ( too linear and predictable... ) I ...myself did not think this was a long game at all... but i tend not to judge those things... LOL ;)
