Someone changed the settings on my monitor at home while I was away. They set it to 1600x1200 and it can't handle this setting. So it boots up, everything checks out fine, it gets to the part where it should show the windows screen with icons, etc. but goes black before it comes up. I know that the problem is probably just the 1600x1200 setting as everything else is fine and I can actually hear the Windows screen get loaded by the computer (music, etc.). How can I change the monitor settings back to 1240x1068 or something safe when I can't get to the screen to change them? Normally I would just right-click on the screen and pick my resolution, or alternatively click on the icon for the vidcard (a Diamond model) and change it there. Since the screen is black, I can't access either. How can I fix this? Thanks in advance.

as soon as you see the starting window prompt right after booting NOT the splash screen but typed words starting windows hit the F8 key it will take a few trys to get it right it should take you to the start up menu chose 3 safe mode that will by pass all your settings when you et in to windows just adjust it back to where you want and reboot /forum/smile.gif
