You won't believe this but right now even as I type I am using the Internet for FREEE!!. No sign up charge, no credit check. My credit card went over and a friend told me about this free isp. It works great. Hate the banner that stays. But for everyone I am telling you that you should at least give this a try. It's NetZero.net
I don't work for them , but I thought I should pass this infor to all

eventually I am going to have to get a cable modem. I am running a business on line, and I will need 24 hour internet access. And KillerBug is right about speed. It's faster than any modem ever created. I built my new computer with cable access in mind.
But for the moment I am a happy camper, can finally get my credit card down to 0 /forum/smile.gif

Hey Bronco, don't be jealous. You can get NetZero, it still goes through the phone line, and I actually connect faster now than when I had to pay for ISP. And it's a local number, at least here.
But yes I can get cable modem, just not yet, can't afford it. Have some luxuries like rent, food, etc.
