I have 2 ATA 66 drives, Western Digital 20 gig and awestern Digital 8.4 gig. the problem is that I can't run the 8 gig drive in ata 66 mode because it's software driven and not detected in the CMOS, so i have to run it on as the primary ide ata 33 mode /forum/frown.gif otherwise their would be no bootable drive. Is there a way around this? The 20 gig is on the primary
ATA 66 controler and does not show up in the CMOS, drivers were installed threw winblows and it shows up as a mass storage drive (Looks like a SCSSI)

Hi N2deep,
check your motherboard. does it support ata 66? if not, you can't use ata 66 harddisk.

Yes, the abit be-6 supports ata 66 as well as 33, read the post, you will see that I have one hd running in ata 66 mode.

The BE-6 confused the hell out of me too. I set it up with one drive, an IBM ATA-66. When I went into CMOS, I could not detect the drive! Read the included paper and there is no mention of how the ATA-66 is suposed to work. Eventually I just booted up and was pleasently surprised when the IBM was detected automatically.
