For some strange reason my system will reboot itself, usually after I click on something, and it's not the same thing each time.
My system is :
ASUS P5A
AMD K6-2 450
128 MB PC100 SDRAM
Windows 98 SE
Thanks
If the drive is sitting on the table that you are clicking your mouse on, I'd suspect you have a loose connector somewhere within the case, or possibly you need a new power supply.
Typically, that board is pretty stable.
I'd "reseat" the power cable on the board after unplugging the system from the wall.
Also take a look at your video card and reseat it while you are in there.
Check the power cord going to your monitor. If you have it plugged into the power supply, go directly to the wall with it.
Swap out your power strip or go directly to the wall.
My bet would be on a bad power supply.
My experiance with machines magically rebooting is a bad power supply.

I was overclocked, but now i'm back to normal. I hope it's not the power supply , as this case (INWIN Q500, w/Power Ram 235 watt supply) is only a year old.
Oh well, if it gets any worse i'll replace the powersupply.
One other thing, I have ASUS Probe running, and the voltages used to be always very close to what they are supposed to be, but lately the +12v is going anywhere from 11.7XXv up to 11.9XXv.
Does this matter much?
Thanks

Never assume that because something is new, that it's not defective. My power supply was two months old before the fan on it went kaput and I had to replace it. I'm guessing you have a power supply problem, maybe CPU.
Also, make sure you're not running Power Management if you have Win98.

We start to frown on voltage readings + or - .25 volts.

So I guess I should get a new power supply?
What is a good brand of power supply to get?
Thanks

The +12 voltage in my BIOS is showing +11.9v , and in ASUS Probe it's showing as low as 11.750v?
Which voltage should I take as the real voltage?
Thanks

Looks like it was a software problem. I re-instaled Windows, and a few programs, and for 3 days now it hasn't done it! /forum/smile.gif
Thanks for all your help people.

Hi kosmo1,
I installed once many times. W98 SE is a buggy OS. Install W98 then upgrade to W98SE. It works well!
