I am using the Linksys WRT54G wireless-g router on WinXP Pro. Quite frequently when I try to connect the Internet I get the work off line dialog box. When I click the try again command button I get reconnected right away.
The other 2 computers that I have hooked to the same router don't have this problem. Does anybody know what might be causing this?

If it only happens with one PC, then there's a problem with that PC. It's best to go into Internet Options > Connections and delete all connections there. You are on a LAN and don't require them.

I was mistaken in my statement. The other pc's are doing the same thing. It seems to be time out related. I checked under the connection tab in IE and I don't have anything listed. The LAN connection is the only one active.
Thinking back though the settings in the router are set for dchp I think. I was thinking that it was suppose to be set for PPPoE. I tried that but I couldn't get connected. My dsl is PPPoE so shouldn't that be used in the router also?

Yes - you need to set the username and password in PPPoE on the router.

Ok, I'll check it out when I can log into the router. Something seems to be wrong with the web site right now when I try all I get is a blank page. Thanks for the help so far.

If you can't log into the router, unplug it and stick a paper clip into the reset hole. Hold it for a minute.
If it still gives you trouble, the router is bad.

I reset the router and ran the setup cd again. It will not configure using PPPoE which is the dsl connection that I have. I keep getting the message it cannot find the Internet connection.
If I set it to Automatic DHCP I can get connected like before but the connection gets dropped sometimes and I get the work off line dialog box. It's nothing major just an inconvience. However, it should work as designed but will not.
Maybe the ISP is blocking it somehow because greed want's you to pay for each computer connected.
Now I can log into the router as before so I don't know why I was logging in and only getting a blank page.

I have a similar problems but I'm trying to connect to my laptop using wireless and cable modem. I try to reset the ip address from my laptop and that didnt work. So I made a IP address for my laptop and it connected to the router but got the "limited or no connection" bull ****!!! My question is when I make a IP address for my laptop, do I have to do something else with the router in order for them to communicate? I think that I have to change the DHCP to Static. I need some help!!! I know its easy but I just cant figure it out!!
Thanks!!!

Please start your own thread, fcoker.
I will tell you that you should use DHCP. If you're not using it, you must assign an IP address that's in the same range as your router and then assign the router's address as the default gateway.
