I don't think there is one for Win98 at all - perhaps for Win98SE but I doubt it. Some years ago SandboxIE, BufferZone and DefenseWall had versions for Win98SE that would mimic the NT Kernal and effect virtualization-based protection while surfing.

Although they worked for a while, pretty soon nasties were launched to defeat them - If by no other way than cause them to shut down rendering them useless.

What are your system spec's?

If your system will support it, perhaps least expensive solution is to move up to XP and use an arsenal of free protection outlined in the sticky about AntiVirus, AntiSpyWare etc at the top of the Applications and Operating Systems category.

1st machine will support xp

2nd machine might.
amd 500 with 256 ram


I am currently running spybot, lavasoft, spyware blaster , avg
outpost firewall
Hopefully this will work out ok.

that second machine will support XP fine! you'll see better performance with an extra stick of ram - but it'll work well enough as is.

Assuming the move to XP, your arsenal coupled with frequent, routine updates and an occasional free on-line scan with either Kasperski or HouseCall (or both) should keep 'em clean. For me, at least, Windows Defender seems to be working well.
