I have a Windows XP Pro machine running IIS with the default IIS FTP service. This is a home PC and I do not want to buy any software to download the occasional file unless a purchase would be a permanent solution to my problem.
The computer is connected to the Internet via DSL. Port forwarding works fine. I can access WEB and FTP services without any issues when I come from an outside Internet source. The problem comes in when I access the FTP server from inside the LAN. When inside the LAN I can connect to the FTP server but can not download more than a few K before the FTP service locks up. I think I have gotten 100Kbytes from inside the LAN. I have received 400 and 500 MB files when outside my LAN (connecting from an internet source). I have treied a couple PC's inside the LAN and 4 different FTP softwares (FireFTP, WS FTP Pro, command line FTP client (Microsoft), Internet Explorer built in FTP). The problem seems to be with my server and the IIS FTP service. Any suggestions on how I might make the FTP server work while on my LAN.
I want FTP instead of MS Networking becuase I have computers on domains that I do not want part of this home workgroup.
