My free updates are about to expire so I thought I would uninstall the McAfee currently on my computer and download a trial version of Norton's. I went to Add/Remove programs, but McAfee isn't there. It's in the Start Menu and in the Programs subfolder in the Windows folder.
So how do I uninstall it? I do need to uninstall it before I install something else don't I?

I'm using Windows 98 SE.

Just run the uninstall program. YOu did say it was in the start menu right? so just do it from there.

jad1097,

I found the uninstall for it in Network Associates. I've heard some scary things about uninstalling McAfee since I first posted. I think I'll wait until I know more.

Thanks for helping.

I just unistalled this software on my daughters new computer and it has Win 98 2nd edtn( /forum/frown.gif) without any problem then installed Norton System Works 2000. But mine had it in the add/remove folder. Wonder why it was different. Anyway best of luck. Norton's a great product, in my humble opinion /forum/biggrin.gif

pickel,

It not being in the Add/Remove Programs threw me and a lot of people off, so I found a site where I could d/l the newest engine and DAT. files from McAfee. I guess I'll keep it until I can't get the upgrades and updates and then I'll take the chance and uninstall.

Thanks for the info. /forum/smile.gif

Have you tried running Super DAT from Network Asociates page?

carney,

Yep, that's where I went to and there was some sort of a problem with a link and they sent me to McAfee. Super DAT was the d/l I got with no problems.

Thanks. /forum/smile.gif
