Re-formatting external Hard Drive

Could someone please give me a step by step idiots guide walkthrough on how to re-format a USB external Hard Drive to NTFS?

right click my computer - click on manage
go to disk management
right click on the ext hdd's partition and click format.
make sure to choose quick format
