I have a problem which makes no sense to me. I purchased an Abit BX6
Rev 2 and 128mb of PC100 ram. When I installed my 400mhz Celeron A
(socket370 w/370SP rev 1.0 adapter) it would not post. I installed my
other processor (P2 233mhz) and it booted fine. I got on the internet,
downloaded and flashed the bios with the latest update and rebooted
(still with the P2) to check the success and it was fine. I cleared the
cmos and changed to the Celeron, rebooted - still no post. I replaced
it with the P2 and rebooted - no problems (had to reset CMOS settings of
course). I tried replacing it again and it booted to the point where it
says processor has changed (showing the Celeron as my processor), I went
into the CMOS restored the date and drives to AUTO, saved and exited -
no POST. I replaced the processor with the P2 and rebooted - no
problems. The Celeron still works fine with my Shuttle HOT-637 but I
cannot get it to post now with the Abit. I realized that when it did
post (for that one shining moment) I had set the soft menu to 400 mhz/
100mhz sys bus - not knowing that if I had gone further in the offerings
I would have found the 400 mhz/66 mhz bus choice. unfortunately I have
not been able to get it to post so that I can make that choice again.
Any clues you may have would be greatly appreciated -
