I have a strange problem after recently installing W98. On a cold start-up, both my CD-ROM and my Memorex CD Re-writer are there and accessable. On a hot restart, only the Memorex CD Re-writer shows up! I did not have this problem with W95. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

These wouldn't happen to be SCSI drives would they?

If so, you might try configuring the properties for each CD drive in device manager. Specifically, look at the properties for each CD ROM to see if the "disconnect" option is checked or not.

Try setting it to the opposite of what it is now, and see if that clears it up.

do you leave CD's in the drive's ? if so take them out had a disk that if i left a CD in it windows would not detect it
my mother and law has a cd drive that has to have the dos drivers in autoexc.bat for windows to beable to find it
might try those to things /forum/smile.gif
