Dear Hardware gurus':

Every time I shut the computer down for more than a min and turn it back on, the message CMOS checksum error - Default loaded appears at the bootup process. Does anyone have any idea what the problem is and how I can fix this?

I try to check the CMOS battery and it seems to be ok (3.0V, ~260mA)

Any help is greatly appreciated.

It is usualy a memery problem your bios has lost track of how much memery you have but it could be any # of things your bios has forgotten

just inter the bioes set up click save and exit and it should fix it if it's a memery thing

I flashed my BIOS yesterday (ABIT BE-6) and forgot to discharg my cmos before rebooting and got a checksum error, so when I flashed it again I pulled the CMOS jumper and rebooted.

No checksum error. /forum/smile.gif

Clear your CMOS, pull the jumper or the battery, this will restore the default settings, detect HD's and check other settings..you should be good to go.

Remember to set agp/clock to 2/3, This gave me hell when it was set at 1/1..I was about to break my Viper 770 Ultra in half, but I ran agross that setting with a little luck I diden't fry my Vid-card running it at 100MHz when it should have been running at 66MHz

Good luck /forum/smile.gif
