Here's the deal:
I just built a PC for a friend, and I ran into a problem... but first, here's the specs:

Abit BE6 MOBO
128 MB PC-100 SDRAM
400Mhz Celeron
9.1 Gig HD (primary master)
Voodoo3 3000
SB Live! Value
Creative Labs DVD Encore 5x w/Dxr3 (seconday master)
Creative Labs CD-RW (secondary slave)

The problem lies with the DVD. It reads CDs fine, but when I tested it with a DVD video, it plays for about 3 minutes, then it freezes, and nothing will work (mouse, keyboard, nothing) until you reset the comp.

I visited CL's website, and they suggested to check the IRQs, to check the allocated memory resource, and check/uncheck the DMA option in the DVD's properties menu(I'm not sure what that does). I checked-out all of these, and none worked.

BTW, it has nothing to do with any screen-savers or power management options.

So, if anyone has a clue has to what the problem could be, I wooould really, really appreciate the help.

Thank you ahead of time /forum/smile.gif

set the dvd as a slave to the hard disk and set the cd-rw to master on the secondary port...

Thanx for the suggestion... I'll try it out on Monday and see what happens.

BTW, why do you think that would work? I originally had the DVD as the slave to the CD-RW, but switched it to master cause I thought it would be better.

If the drive at least plays in the beginning, I wouldn't think that the drive itself would be bad. The only thing I can think of to do is reinstall the vid software. Maybe the error is there. If there are any updates for it, install those too.
