Just a quick question, has or does anyone in here use or has used Open Office, and if so does it read MS office Docs without any problems? Im thinking of using it over my current version of office which is an older version and I am not paying for Office 2000 so Im going to go with open office. I just want to know if its stable.

Open Office is a wonderful substitute for MS Office and will work on all MS generated documents. Best of all....it's free. I was introduced to this wonderful suite when I started using linux.

I put Open Office 1.1 on my BartPE Live XP CD for work. I can read any of the clients docs. if their system is corrupt or failed. I also tried loading it on a j1GB ump drive and it runs fine from there as well.

It is looking good, my concern was compatibility with MS mostly, I am thinking of installing it onto my Customers machines when I build them. Good idea or bad?

I usually do, but when doing so, I often set OpenOffice Writer to save in Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP format by default.
