Hope Ive picked the correct forum.

Ive been using ws le ftp for years but suddenly Ive started having problems. Since then Ive also used cuteftp and smartftp and the results are the same for all;

If I try to upload to my website for more than a couple of minutes my computer switches to the dreaded blue screen with the following error message;
driver_irql_not_less_or_equal
It then begins a physical memory dump before doing a reboot.

Everything else works fine though. I can use other programs or trawl the net for hours with no problems. Its only when I go to use an ftp that this happens. And in all my years of using them its never happened before.

The only other thing I can think of is that was a windows update a few days ago. Could there be something in that causing interference?

My system is; win xp
amd athlon 64 processor
3000+
2.01ghz, 1 gig ram
2 80 gig hard drives

thank you

What hardware have you added recently?

Check if there is an updated driver for your NIC.

Network card unless you are using dialup, then you may not have one.

Can you boot to Safe Mode?

Okay, thanks. Ive got broadband. Would the card be part of LG firmware? Its set to automatically download new drivers.

Yes, I can boot to safe mode. What did you have in mind?

Ive been looking at this microsoft article;
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=244617#appliesto
but Im not a technical expert and am having trouble following some of it, like what its for?

I know theres a lot of questions, but Im in Australia so threll probably be hours in difference between our responses.

I don't know about LG firmware.

Check the device manager for network cards listed. I would look for a newer driver to update the one you have installed.

Safe mode will let you uncheck the box to do the complete physical memory dump. I set mine to none. Only an expert technician can get any useful info out of a memory dump.

You can also check if any devices have a yellow exclaimation point on the drivers or if you have any unknown devices in safe mode.

Check this Microsoft article as well:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/241257/en-us

I use this to clean out any unwanted drivers loaded which makes the system startup and shutdown faster.
