I installed win98 and at the end of the install where it reboot the system, it will not go back to windows. I end up with a blinking curser after the startup process.
I only way I can get a: or c: prompt is through the startup disk. I ran the dir on c: and shows that win98 is in c: I don't how I can not get the windows to open.any suggestions?

Sounds like you need to get into Safe Mode to check out the Device Manager settings. Press F8 just after the system boots through the BIOS process.

Was this an upgrade from WIN95 or a new install? And what motherboard/CPU and Video card are you using?

Did you reformat your hard drive before you install windows? Did win98 install on the hard drive without any trouble? Like Susan said we need to know more about your computer.

Sounds like an ide conflict.

If you can, fromat you hd and make a clean install (dont forget to have your boot dikette ready with cd rom support ready)

Most of the times that has helped me out.

I think bill davis got his problems worked out as it had to do with multiple HD's Fat16, FAT32, WIN98 and NT.

He e-mailed me and has hopefully installed both successfully /forum/smile.gif
