I ran Wintune on my hard drives - Quantum fireball + KA 13.6 7200 ultra 66 and seagate 6.2 5400 ultra 33. Both drives run through Abit Hot Rod 66 controller card.

The Winstone tests on the drives says the seagate runs faster than the Quantum????

Any ideas?????????????

Hi,
I have a Maxtor hd 7200rpm ata66 udma and an old dog from Seagate. I used to get a score of 44Mb/s and 22MB/s respectively then i bought a new mb. The 1st time i ran the test it came up with the same score but since then i am getting 22MB/s and 11MB/s. As far as i know i did not change anything. The score for my CPU K6-2/3d 300 also dropped from 580 mips to 239 mips . The pc seems as fast as ever to me, i am about to give up on wintune as a bummer. The website tells you you don't have the most recent version even when you do and it never gives you the comparison results.

What MB/s do you get ?

got something like 55 for the seagate and 45 for the quantum.

I think I'll try some other test as everything is reported fine by my m/b. Or maybe I'll just be happy with way its running..... perfectly fine.

Try this: HDTach. http://tcdlabs.simplenet.com/hdtach.htm Use ver 2.52 if you find compatibility issues with ver 2.60.

I think the "Sandra" benchmarks for your disks might be a little more accurate than Wintune.
