I have an InfoTech ImageReader Express scanner (not the best, but it serves its purpose) and I have been trying to get it working again, after not using it for a while. I think the reason I stopped using it was b/c it stopped working on me. I've tried several downloads from driverguide.com but haven't been able to get it to work with any of them. I go to install them, and don't get any errors. In the utility that is installed with the drivers, it detects the correct port that the scanner is on, but none of my scanning software recognizes it. It keeps telling me to install the TWAIN drivers.

Does anyone know what might be causing this? I spilled a glass of H20 near it before it stopped working last time, but I could still get it to work, so I'm hoping it wasn't that...

Computer is running Win98 on a PII350 (Abit BH6 Mobo) with 64MB of RAM. The scanner worked fine before... I never really liked the parallel port passthrough scanner, though!

I have an info products image reader ultra and have the same problem. i got it new for $20 or so, so i've just written it off as a loss. I never could get it to work, same problem.

**UPDATE**
Played around with a few of the settings, and finally managed to get the darn thing to work... I guess for the type of parallel port, it was set for EPP. The scanner wanted it to be SPP. The stupid auto-detect thing in the "infotech scanner utility" program doesn't work right! Have the thing working again!
