I think the bahavior of the mods here should be of public interest.
Take note, sysopters. Should you have an issue with the mods--or should they have issue with you--it's okay for them to publicly voice it but not for you.

So it's seen, this was a recent post in a thread that was locked because it didn't favor positively on the mods.
----------------------------------
Kudos to the mod--I can only assume BiPolar Bill--who deleted his own post, and my reply, in the thread I started about ISO files not downloading in General Tech Discussion.
However, there's still the issue of MidKnytes post. In fact, I think it's the most appalling of the two. I post that I'm having problems with WMP10 and DVD audio, possibly related to codecs, and I asked if anyone knew a free codec to resolve the issue.
MK's reply?:
Quote:
I've posted this several times.
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
My reply back to him, after a couple posts in between where I try to clarify my question and he proceeds to be obtuse:
Quote:
So, if I post that I'm having a problem with MS Word, do you post a link to download OpenOffice?
I would prefer to use WMP. Anyone know of a good, free codec that would resolve the audio issue?
All in all, quite USELESS. But, hey, he's a mod and, apparently, above the rest of us. I add a bit of humor to a thread, and it's deleted.
Christ, get a clue boys.
You can find the thread here:

Then again. Just because you aren't a mod doesn't mean you can say whatever you want.
I know the following concept will be foreign to you, but the Politically Correct response from you would be: “Midknyte, thank you very much for taking time out of your busy schedule to assist me with my problem. The solution you provided, while doable, is not what I was looking for. Thanks again for your time.

I edited my original post to clarify what I was looking for. That should suffice.
How about:
"tantone, I realize that this isn't what you're after, but this is a good application that might be a workaround to your problem."
I'm not into PC stuff, and I'm not into rude replies that insinuate I shouldn't have ever asked the question since he's "posted this several times before."
Of course, I don't expect you to understand that.

But it DOES seem the case that if you are a MOD you CAN say anything you want and wipe anything you want, ban anything you want, reset any user's posts you like, etc etc etc.
We have a terms of service thing that we users have to abide by, where is the TOS that MODs have to adhere to, where are the guidelines regarding warnings, bannings and all the other stuff?

That’s a great point. But since you have no control over other people reactions/replies are you going to work on your own?
There’s the age old question: “Are you part of the problem or are you part of the solution?”

I never claimed I was innocent. I simply expect the same reaction to a Mod's posts that there is to mine.
Police your own before coming after others. Otherwise, you look like a fool.
I don't mind being told when I'm wrong, as long as it's evenly applied.
Here, it's obviously not.

There’s the age old question: “Are you part of the problem or are you part of the solution?”
So, you admit that they are just as much a part of the problem as I am?
That's a start, I guess.
Although, if you remove one half of the problem, then there's no more problem, is there?

I'd list a nice forum site where everyone is treated equally and you can say whatever you want and not be penalised for it (at least not by a MOD, users are another matter though), but the URL has been censored by one of the MODs here...
Scared of competition perhaps

I never claimed I was innocent. I simply expect the same reaction to a Mod's posts that there is to mine.
Exactly the point. You’re pretty much the LAST person that should be casting any stones here.
Inquiring minds want to know what being a moderator has to do with the price of tea in China and or how they replied to your posts. If a member had replied in your thread the same way as Bill and Midknyte, would you have then been a good little boy and replied back yourself in a nicer manner?
And Zybach, you’re pretty much the most negative person that’s ever posted on the internet. Someone could give you a million dollars in cash and you’d complain that the bills weren’t new or not in the currency of your country.
So let’s just assume nothing will ever make you happy and leave it at that.
Moderators, just like the members here are human beings. “We” human beings are prone to good days and bad days. Some of us are less tolerant to some of the junk/trash that gets posted here. The volunteer position is like most regular positions. You do a good day everyday and no one says a thing, because after all, that’s what you’re getting paid to do. (or not) When you make one little boo boo, it’s amazing how everybody and there brother comes slithering out of the woodwork and suddenly has something to say about your performance.
Tantone, in the last twelve months, you’ve averaged 4 posts a month outside the OT forum. Get that up to 400 a month and I’ll give your comments a little more credit.

Something I'll add... Ever see how many posts the mods have? Now imagine, a piece of that total is probably a pile of answers to questions they've already answered before. Now I would think that sometimes it just gets tiring to answer peoples questions who haven't searched the forum first, which probably all of us fail to do when we want our problem stated fast, exact, and fixed fast, but finding someone elses answer to the same problem is probably even faster lol.
There's the possibility of misunderstanding your original question, and fired off a quick utility they thought would solve your problem, which you have to be courteous if you're telling them that their answer didn't suit your needs. Perhaps midknyte thought you'd find that program to be much better than looking around for codecs which is a very annoying thing to do, believe me, I once needed to try 3 different codec packs to get WMP working. I'll say this... We all can come across as sounding annoyed or such, when we have our OWN reasons of course it's more understandable, but when we don't know someone else's reason, my oh my, down with the evil that hast acted in such a way. Truth, you don't know the reason, so you can't really say you have all that much ground in confrontation. Maybe the person doesn't even mean to come across like that too, stuff gets worded wrong when it's in text all the time, it's been proven that things typed rather than talked lose alot of implied meaning and intended meaning.
So all of us, including mods, lets be courteous to one another. And mods/admins, we know your jobs aren't all that easy, and we thank you for taking the time every day to monitor/run the boards so we can have such a great tech forum to come to with all our tech questions and answers.

At least you'd have to give me credit for not posting images of my cats whevever they do anything. Thats gotta be worth something.

I'm guessing it was suposed to block the old site, not the new one.
Perhaps one of the wonderfully open and fair-minded MODs could take another look and determine whether they still think it deserves to be censored.

The post count part is a bit lame, though, don't you think? So, you might consider what I have to say if I posted more? The situation either warrants attention or it doesn't. Shouldn't matter how many times I've posted.
For BpB to call me a brat is pretty rich, though. That boys in more dire need of psychiatric help than anyone on this forum...aside from JM of course. Everyone knows he's PMS'ing constantly and isn't afraid to let it shine.
This martyrdom notion about the mods is pretty silly as well. So, they take time out of their busy lives to moderate. They volunteered. Should they get leeway because of it? No. If it's too much to ask that a mod maintain the same level of behaviorr as everyone else, then UN-volunteer and spend more time away.
I'll try to get my post count up to about 400 and then repeat my concerns. I'd also like to take a moment to suggest that SysOpt take a cue from experts-exchange.com and use a voting system to rate/rank the posters. Then the ranking system would actually mean something then.
Hey, I've said my piece and I'm done with the subject.
