My autoplay no longer seems to work. It worked once, but now when I place a CD in, it reads the CD and identifies it in Windows explore, but it doesn't autoplay.

Is there a menu option that I can enable, disable this option?

Thanks

go to: Start/Settings/Control Panel/System, the choose the tab marked Device Manager.
Click on the + sign next to "CDROM" to expand, then double-click on the cd drive which now shows.
Choose the "Settings" tab.
Under options, check "Auto Insert Notification"
Click OK
You'll be prompted to restart, do so.

This should turn it back on, although I personally always turn it OFF!
Annoying waste of resources, IMO

It is already checked... that's not it.

Try using TweakUI to enable it. If it still doesn't work then check if you haven't installed another program that could be taking away the control over CD from win9x.

I had the same problem, but was due to Creative's Disc Detector I only modified some parameters and it autoplays the CDs correctly now.

you might want to look at it in the registry. May not be there.
Just do a search for autodetection or autoplay.
I would feel lucky though if I were you.
**** the autoplay **** the!
