TIA, BC Target 11-23-1999, 06:06 PM Yup....lots of them. I use Ghost and HDCP (Hard Disk Copy Program). Nortons Ghost is more feature rich. There are several others as well, hopefully others will suggest some more for you. Nathan 11-23-1999, 09:48 PM How big will the image be and where are you going to store it? socalgal 11-23-1999, 09:57 PM I have this setup. My older, (primary) Slave drive is a complete backup of my newer (primary) Master drive. PowerQuest's Drive Image is what I use. (I hear alot of good about Ghost, but I've never tried it.) Drive Image will also allow you image to a smaller capacity target drive, provided you have enough disk space on the target hdd to hold the contents of the source drive. My copy of PowerQuest Drive Image and Partition Magic was a bonus CD that came with Scott Mueller's Upgrading & Repairing PCs (11th Ed.) - a good bonus to a good book! BC 11-23-1999, 10:14 PM i was thinking about like anexternal device to do this like a cdr or a tape. Do any of these programs allow for compresing the image or do you pretty much need the same amount of space on the target device? Thanks for the help thus far kwai 11-24-1999, 06:16 AM ghost offers differing amounts of compression (none, med, high), but i've never needed to use more than none since my boot partition is just about 400 MB with all programs installed. That's small enough to burn a CD image, but i just leave the images on a second drive. ghost allows you to make images of partitions or entire hard drives. you can also use ghost explorer to pull out files from the image (though not insert). i also have all my data on the second drive, which gets backed up normally on a cd-rw. my data doesn't need to be in the image since i can just copy it back and forth. you can download a trial version of ghost from www.symantec.com (http://www.symantec.com) BC 11-24-1999, 09:30 AM ok thanks for all the info guys & gals. I will mull over the suggestions BC SysOpt.com
