Yup, just set em as tight as ya can and use some wire cutters ( carefully here ) to squeeze them tighter.

Would it be a bad thing to use jubilee clips instead ?
They are usually used on the rubber boot that protects the CV joints.
Mainly because there is not enough room for the tighting screw on regular clamps, on revolving parts, or for an area that will need to be pulled apart to change the clamp, this can be used without unassembling and reassembling the half shaft.
They can be awkward to re-install, so replace them with new ones if you can.

On the new cv boots I have used they came with heavy duty nylon zip ties and always worked well for the life of the boot.

And I suppose those poncey metal straps rely on the grease leaking passed them to stop them from rusting, huh ?
