do they have a wireless router out that you don't have to call for support to hook it up?

first up > I just got verizon DSL last week! Then

I just bought a gaming router the other day and tried to install it and after hours of trying to get it to work I called for support on it and after the support I was told it was defective and to send it back to where I purchased it or send it back to them.

but then I went to compusa and got there deal this weekend for the us robotics router for $15.00 after rebates and to find when I opened the package was it had a european plug on it and I had to go to radio shack to get an adapter for!

then after trying to install it myself I realize it's alot to do whitout tec support!

so I called tec support for help and they helped me thru it

but my question is are there any that are just plug and go routers out there?

Thanks!

In my opinion, Linksys makes the best routers. They stable and simple to set up

Thanks!Nope, there are too many variables to be able to build a unit that automatically fits it All.

However the amount of learning needed to set is not so "steep".

A plug and play wireless router setup would have no security - perfect if you want everyone in your NYC apartment building using your connection.

Get a Linksys WRT54GS and set it up with the CD. Use WPA security at least. Preferrably, you should only allow connection by specific MAC address. It's all in the manual.

BpB's suggested setup is exactly what I have at home--adding the high-gain antennas--over Verizon Fiber Optic and it's error-free.

You will need to configure the router for security, but it shouldn't be all that hard for you. Go step-by-step through the setup guide and hit each tab.
