I updated my Award Flash Bios and now my computer will not boot. IT stops with the following error message

Verifying DMI Data Pool

What does this mean? How do correct it?

Just a couple of questions for you...
Did you make absolutely sure that the Bios update you downloaded was the correct version for your motherboard version? Also your downloaded update should have came with a readme file that you should have printed out since it would have an outline of the neccessary steps and precautions to take when doing this procedure.

If so, then did you make sure that you booted into "native dos mode" before you ran the update utility? There are a couple of ways to boot into native dos, make a floppy to boot from ( I forgot the command line sequence so if anybody can help please do) and also by pressing F8 before the starting windows message pops up and then choosing command prompt only. The reason for booting into native dos is so that there are no drivers and memory managers loaded that will interfere with the flashing process and could corrupt the Bios.

After you completed the Bios flash and the message came up that it was successful, Did you reboot/go into the CMOS utility and reset everything back to default settings (making sure to take note of any changes that you may have made prior to the update (really should have been written down before the update))/save and reboot again/go back into the settings and make the appropriate changes and save and reboot once again to let the DMI utility verify the changes?

If by chance you might have not done any of the steps you might try going into the utility and set the defaults and go thru those steps and if that dont work let us know in detail what happened. Those are the steps that I had to follow when I updated my Award Bios so I hope that they will work for you also.. If I may have left out anything someone please correct me. /forum/smile.gif

Think Commod hit the nail on the head.... try going into your CMOS and set it back up again. For sure, re-detect your hard-disks at least and give it another whirl.
