Has any one downloaded the new version of IE?
Does it have the Micropatches in it ? I've downloaded EVERYTHING for Win 98 and Office 97. This is a 2hour download and I have to dedicate all resources to the downlaod or my computer will crash. Any input greatly appreciated. Thanks

Definately download and install, even if you
don't use the browser. It seems to provide
more stability to Win98, and there are a few
more tweaking options.(Provided you have the
available disk space).

Pickel,

I have downloaded and installed IE5.01 and it seems to work even better for me...But I did have a bit of trouble with the Outlook Express 5.0 update that came along with it. (it would hang when trying to open an email in a seperate window (full view) I uninstalled OE and then reinstalled OE and working fine ever since...

What I think about IE 5.01 is that EVERYONE SHOULD GET IT! I love it, and its alot faster. What do I have to do to turn everyone to it?! /forum/smile.gif /forum/smile.gif /forum/smile.gif

I can't agree with the rest here. I haven't tried it on win98, only various different versions of 95 and I have to say, I've uninstalled it and replaced it with IE4.01 SP2 each and every time I've tried it.
I dislike being an unwilling beta-tester for Microsoft. I'll hold out for the first service pack release, then order it on CD to avoid the long download.

If you do decide to do it, keep a copy of 4.01 around to back-out.

I've had everything from registry errors to much more frequent crashes.
