Hi, socalgal!!! teapot 11-20-1999, 06:39 PM All the E stands for is enhanced IDE. So you will have no problems. Unless you have a really old motherboard as some don't recognise CD drives. Dominus 11-20-1999, 07:22 PM Another note, some (E)IDE burners tend to perform better and produce less coasters when they are set as master, or on their own IDE channel. If you have a CD-ROM on the secondary channel, set it as primary slave instead, and set the burner as secondary master. Might save you a bit of money in wasted CDs. Out of curiosity, what CDRW do you have? quietinthecorner 11-20-1999, 07:47 PM HP 8110i 24x/4x/2x, new in box Dominus 11-20-1999, 08:54 PM I've got an 8100i. They seem to be nice burners, although they can't overburn. Avoid Memorex media; they'll never burn right. Maxell and Sony work great, especially Sony, but they're more expensive. quietinthecorner 11-20-1999, 09:13 PM Thanks D, I'll remember that. CMonster 11-20-1999, 09:23 PM Quiet~1, I got the "1/2 the beast humor" - 333 very true. Anyway, if you are running a K6-2/333 then you probably have an EIDE system (supports up to 4 EIDE/IDE ddevices), an IDE (1)primary and IDE (2)secondary channels, on each you can have 2 devices, master and slave. EIDE also supports mass storage devices other than hard disks, such as ATAPI CDROM drives and tape drives. quietinthecorner 11-20-1999, 10:17 PM CMonster, thanks for catching my humor, My K62 333 is in Pac Bell and their specs say just IDE, the puter was built in Dec.98 socalgal 11-20-1999, 11:35 PM Hi quiet~1!(stealing from CMonster...) /forum/smile.gif BTW - everything ^^they^^ said. /forum/biggrin.gif CMonster 11-21-1999, 11:10 AM Trust me, that baby is EIDE - also most likely Ultra DMA/ATA 33; I'd bet money on it.
