Given a PC with bad HDD, OS is/was ME. Disks long gone, so I was going to slap in an old 20Gig Maxtor and install W2k Pro. I have done some reasearch and I cannot find any info regarding the installation of W2K in this model of HP. I find plenty of info for 98, ME & XP. I did find a warning that HP does not support NT in this model.

Is this model problematic with W2K OS. I do have a copy of 98SE, would that be a better choice? This machine will be used for email & some word processing only.

Any help would be appreciated,

Thanks,
CB

From this web page, it appears that your model would be fine with Win2K, although there are no drivers listed anywhere on the HP site for Win2K.

Oh well, I will give W2K a shot & see what happens. IF it does not work I will load 98SE.

Thanks, CB

Thanks, Sterling. FYI, W2K and SP4 installed just fine. Will complete all security updates tonight.
