Is it me or have I been blinking too much? I have not seen or heard any of the big 3 console makers claim victory over who won during this last xmas season sales. Usually I would read about who won (as far as sales figures goes) with what console. I know the handheld market has been fierce with the PSP and DS. I just feel that console market isn't what it used to be. In the passed, graphics was usually a key point in buying games. But now it seems that is no longer an issue or power of a system. Is the gaming market that dissapointing that the sales figures are alot lower now then in years passed? It's what I don't read about now and all the bragging that I no longer hear from the big 3 that makes me wonder about this. Ninetendo it seems is no longer competing against the other 2. But it was the Gameboy that had kept them profitable. I'm not sure anymore if that is the same with the DS out now. Seems that system hasn't been as victorious as the original Gameboy or the Advance. If anyone has more details I would like to know or where to look. Thanks in advance. Laterz. :t

Well the only console that was released was the Xbox 360 so pretty safe to say that that wont he main console award....

Our of the handheld console war.....I would guess the PSP would have 'won' but not too sure..sorry

I would guess the ps2 is still holding strong IMO due to the 360 shortages. I'm sure the psp is doing well but i doubt it'll ever get the same attention that a nintendo handheld will get :P :t

one thing I did read is the Gamecube isn't selling that well, IMO i think it's a great console (too bad they took out the digital port in the newer models, so no 480p for you new GC buyers) the gamecube costs almost the same as some games jees :P o well I'll get myself a revolution just for the downloadable n6 and prior game downloads :t

The 360 and the PS2 are totally different console to be honest. The technology in the 360 is far superior than the Ps2's obviously...

The price is also a lot higher. Microsoft want there to be shortages because that means they are sell loads. Personally I've not had a go of one.....and with heindsight i would have pre ordered about 10 and sold them for £1k each on ebay over xmas...

PS3 coming soon...;)

IMO sony does have a trump card if square enix will agree. I'm sure if sony starts losing they'lkl prolly try to convince square to release a FF7 remake, i'm sure tons of people would run for a ps3 just for that :P

The Xbox 360 was the only one released so believe me it won. The console but for te DS and PSP, it seems to me that the PSP has beat out the DS. I have seen maybe 2 DS where as PSP are everywhere.

Well, I'm sure that in the next christmas season the PS3 will dominate sales, seeing as it'll be a newly released console. I for one will be buying one, as I've always been a fan of Sony over Microsoft. I've played the Xbox 360 and as a PC gamer, not one of the games has made me say "Wow, those graphics are gorgeous!". More along the lines of "Why do all the characters glow??". IMO COD2 looks just as good on my PC as it does on the Xbox 360, and I have a mouse :t So I think that for now the PS2 and the Xbox 360 are both on the same level of competition. Not in the graphics, for sure, but in the quality of games I think they're right on par.

For the current games that are out, the 360 is massivly overpowered....

I love my PC too....but I think the technology in the PC is well behind the 360 and even further behind what the PS3 is planned!

I hated the PS2 though....if they actually put some effort into designed a controller different from the PS I might have liked it  But the controller just didn't fit in my hand nicely :(

I wouldn't say so...it took MS and Sony till the 360 and PS3 (from what I have read) to finally catch up and pass by a standard gaming rig. But, if you wanted to go full-tilt on a PC, you can upgrade beyond 360 numbers. Hell, the original xbox was running on something like a PIII and a mid-lvl Geforce card.

I'm not saying these articles are the end-all-be-all, but they interesting reads.
