I have a Packard Bell Multimedia 955 I bought last year. Its got an ATI Rage AGP graphics card onboard, but I installed a Diamond Monster Fusion PCI card. Its been working fine with the onboard card disabled in Windows until I downloaded and installed an update for that model from Packard Bell's website(the 930-950 BIOS update matched my system according to their database). Now, I no longer get any video on my Monster Fusion at startup except when it gets to Windows. There it treats my Monster Fusion like a second video card, and I cannot change it to my primary display using the multimonitor feature of Windows 98. There are no jumpers to disable the onboard video and I cannot find any settings for it in the Award BIOS the system has. Can you help? If anybody has his model PB system please, please let me know...I need the original BIOS version back. I would really appreciate the help.

NEC has closed packard bell down - they won't be making anything new, so your chances of getting anything from them on that is doubtfull. Best shot is to roam the resale shops which are sure to start filling up with old PB equipment. See if you can negotiate for the Eprom chip only or the whole M/B if you feel the need.

Sorry -

I wouldn't throw too much money at it in any case as there won't be too much of a future for that m/b. Save up $150 and buy something that will carry you forward. I'd recommend holding out for a board and Athlon 500 chip which should become very affordable as the 733 mHz systems start hitting the streets.

Look at it as an opportunity - Christmas is coming - Ask the family to buy you one big present...... /forum/wink.gif
