Ok guys I have a friend who is having major problems with his drives. While they are in DMA mode they are VERY unstable and disk management reports them as being unhealthy. The strange part is that if he changes it to PIO mode instead the drives are then reported as being healthy. As it stands being in PIO with half a terabyte of space and several logical drives is quite painful.....
Is there any Balm in Gilead?

Thanks,
Herman

Ps. He also get hugh amounts of event log entries while in DMA mode about his comptrollers being at fault too. Hope this little bit of info helps.

Sounds like sub-standard cables. Try new ones.

You haven't mentioned Windows version, drive brands or motherboard model. There may be jumper issues or a BIOS problem, respectively.
