I finished my first build this weekend and was going to get all my driver updates and BIOS updates from ASUS last night, and then I got p!ssed.

I kept getting "Server connection reset" windows after downloading something for about 8 seconds. It wasn't due to traffic at the ASUS website because it happens at any website. Typically I can't download anything over 3-4 megs. I have SBC DSL and have a router from SBC and there 2Wire POS software.

My old PC would do the same thing, but I just thought it was because it was 6 years old, slow, and had something affecting it's performance. Also, if I select a page or website, it will sometimes give me a Cannot find page erre and the next time I select the link or website it comes up. Just stupid sportatic things like that really **** me off.

Since this **** is happining on my old and new system it has got to be my ISP or the router they provided. Any thoughts or suggestions.
Thanks for the help.

Language please.

Contact SBC and see if they can help.

Sorry about the moderate language.
I called the ISP tonight and they said their connection and line test show good.
I've disabled software firewalls and firewall on the router, but to no avail.

However, I have figured out what the problem is though but I have no idea what to do about it.

I get kicked out of downloading programs because every 10-15 seconds my connection starts "Acquiring Network Address". So if my download is not done in 10 seconds I get reset and kicked out of the download.

What to do about this? Is there a setting that needs to be changed that will keep that connection or is this the ISP pinging every 10-15 seconds. I know one thing DSL is useless if there is no rememdy to this.
Thanks from a very frustrated member that needs to download drivers for his mobo. :(

It depends which IP address is being renewed. If it's the one that the modem issues to the router, there's nothing to do. If it's your PC IP, then you can extend the DHCP lease time in the router setup.

How do I go about doing that? The router that SBC gave acts as a router and modem and I'm just using the onboard LAN in the ASUS mobo.

How do I find out which IP address is being renewed.?

I'm tempted to ditch the SBC Router/modem and go buy a DSL modem.

I have SBC DSL and have a router from SBC and there 2Wire POS software.
That told me that you had a separate modem and router.

If all that you have is the 2Wire modem/router, I would return it as defective.
