Hmmm, so Bill , say a OEM system board goes bad then the client cannot opt for an upgrade board ... a repair install is now illegal and won't activate ?

Who knows? I do know that a PC's WPA database at Microsoft gets cleared every 180 days anyway. In this case, any installation will be activated without trouble.
My point is that your motherboard replacement should always be categorized as a repair when you are forced to call.
