XP Upgrade

with the upgrade version of XP Pro it looks for licensed version of previous OS.
i have WIN98 but i have lost the key.
will install ask for the key when doing a clean install of XP.

NO ... all XP will ask for is the old WIn98 CD .. it uses this
to verify that in fact you did have a prior os which qualified
you for the update ... you will need to enter the XP Key
that comes with the upgrade cd
