Anti Virus and Firewall and pop up blocker

Hey guys,
I'm looking to getting software for the items in the title.
Is there a single software that can do all 3 of these that is good and has good support and updates. Is the only way to go buying the software retail or is there enough out there on the internet to download.

I'm getting a new system together and am putting in new OS and want to start off with a clean slate and get good software from the start to combat virus, worms, spyware, popups, etc.

What you describe is a "Security Suite" and I don't know of any free ones.
I piece mine together with a group of free apps.

The only suite that I would consider using would be the following:

Not really....no all in one suite that I trust.

Everyone has their own opinions and preferences on what works best for them.

There is a ton of information here, many of the apps are free. Up to you to test them to your liking...

1-use a router
2-pretty well any browser will block pop-ups
3-use anti-spyware apps like ones listed in dajogejr's link (lots are free)
4-try several anti-virus programs (one at a time, free and demos) and pick the one you like.
5-try several firewalls (one at a time, free and demos) and pick the one you like.
6- make sure you uninstall AV or firewall programs and reboot before you install a different program. :t
