Application that reads text aloud?

What type of application, i know theres one but i cant remember the name of what they're called,
what type of app reads lines of text starting from wherever and ending with the end of the text in that computer voice? ..or any voice, i just want it to read my notes aloud to me.

adjustable speed would be good too..i remember having one but i cant recall the name.

The additions Office XP and above make to the language bar will do this for you in office documents bar e-mail.
