could someone tell me if its possible to change ip address without making it static?
Like do ip reset so it will become something else? or are we stuck with same ip for the rest of computer life?

You're stuck with what your ISP gives you.

Broadband IP addresses are usually leased to you for a half day or so by your ISP. When the lease is due to expire, a check is made to see if you're still using it ...i.e: if your modem online! if it is - the lease is renewed instantly
Unpluging your cable modem for a half day ...or however long your lease lasts [you can check this by typing "ipconfig" into a command prompt], will release the address back into your ISP's Available pool, it will then be queued & given to another person as the queue deminishes.
When you plug your modem back in - it will have to re-register (might take a minute or two) & the IP address will have changed ...if you've waited long enough.
all of this is on the provisio that your ISP doesn't use static IP addressing on standard accounts (you can find that out on your ISP's website).
If they do use static IP addressing, you would need to call tech support and request a change ...be prepared to give a reason.

Actually, broadband ISPs in the U.S. issue IP addresses according to your modem's MAC address. In the past, you could receive one of 2 possible IP addresses. Most providers realized that users preferred having the same IP address so that they could use applications like GoToMyPC and started using fixed IPs silently. They also did it so that they can better monitor for spam zombies. When it's renewed, it's generally the same IP address as before.

Reasoning: well animeal's location says he's my "neighbor"! So either he's a Brit with a bad spelling issue or he's American (which also means he has a bad spelling issue! :D ) & he's not really my Neighbour. ;)
Moral: how was I to know he was talking through his behind?
attached: we still lease over here - 48 hours. :t
