I have got 128Mb of Pc100 sdram, two 64mb sticks, and my memory speed in Sandra is ****, marginally slower than a 200mmx. I have got a k6/2 300 o/ced to 337 at 83mhz bus speed.
Even when I ramp the speed up to 100mhz, the memory actually seems slower.
Overall I'm pleased with pc performance, but I am a little disappointed with the memory.
K6/2 300 (337)@ 83Mhz
M557 mobo
Matrox mystique G200 8Mb
6.4 gig hd
Any suggestion. Also my copy of Sandra crashes on the MB modules, I can do all the benchmarks but not MOBO info. (ps it's not completely proper)

i see i'm not the only one foolish enough to buy a pcchips motherboard. the term you get what you pay for applies.
if you need tech support your up the creek the download links at pcchips web site don't work and no one there will ever respond your e-mail. if you can get your money back do so quick. if you don't beleive me look at the user review section under motherboards. see other peoples comments
I don't have a pc chips board, but I understand they aren't for beginners.
I'm none too crazy about a BioStar board we have. This was put in by a local shop as an upgrade, the bios is not flashable, so when it comes to that, most go back to their local shop. This one was not y2k compliant, so it was a matter of time...
I'd suggest that these boards are for local shops to build inexpensive computers to compete with the national brands, and leave it at that.

Well, I have an M715 board and my 64 megs of PC100 memory(2 32 meg chips) performs better than an AMD K6-3 500 MVP3 with 128 megs of Ram. As a matter of fact. That includes CPU and FPU scores. I have a Celeron 400 PPGA in a slot 1 M715. Creative Labs Savage 4 32meg PCI, 2.1gig harddrive and a couple smaller drives, a Sound Blaster 64 and other various bits and pieces. I've been told, as was stated, that the AMD chips are at fault here in regards to memory scores and such. I'm extremely pleased with my board and have had absolutely zero problems with it. Heck, and my board is even an AT Pentium II board, not even ATX, haw! Ain't that a hoot... Oh, and my board also has an Intel chipset. Which is definately a plus for me.

As for your crashes on motherboard info, go into the options for that module before you open it and try unchecking DMI. I get an error message if I have the DMI box checked on mine. That's also a problem noted somewhere in Sandra or there site or something.

Well guys, if you upgrade your MoBo bios(at PCCHIPS home page) you will never get the errors at Sandra.
By the way, I suggest to use the final version, 5.30, to avoid any errors.
In my system, M577, K6-2/400 at 500(5x100,2.5 volts),64Mb PC100, Trident AGP 9750 Vid, VoodooII 8Mb, Creative 5X DVD, Panasonic IDE CD-R 6x4, Zoltrix 56K voice, everything running ok and the perfomance, according Sandra, outperforms a Pentium III 500. I donīt know if I believe or not but my systems running very fast in any game or real world app.
Hugs to all /forum/smile.gif

same situation with me...i also have a pcchips mobo, k6-2 450 and 128mb of pc-100 ram. On the sandra website it mentions in the faq that amd systems tend to form a bottleneck in the memory, thus giving an inaccurate measurement. believe me, if it was as bad as it says, my system and yours would be as bad as a pentium90 or lower, which they are not. I also get the illegal operation when I look at the mobo information, but i hit close and then it proceeds to show me the information anyways. I have not been able to determine a reason for this.
Try getting wintune98 to get a better idea of your systems performance.....

Ricardo,
Is flashing the bios easy. It's something I'm a little dubious about doing, you hear lots of horror stories and at the moment I can't afford a new Mobo.
Do I need awdfl628.exe, I have checked my bios number and I think this is correct, do I just run it from dos?
All help appreciated.

Well Spickee, I had not any problem to flash my Bios and everything works fine.
Yes, you need the award flashing utility to do it. Before flashing, my MoBo tells me that my processor was running at 400Mhz instead the real clock, 500Mhz. After flashing the Bios, the speed is informed correctly now and Sandra gaves me correct informations without any error.
Try, I donīt tell you that itīs 100 percent secure, but nothing happens to me and everything runs fine. I donīt know how much is the cost of this MoBo, but here, in Brasil, itīs expensive, something around US$ 120,00, for our weak money itīs expensive.
Good luck and keep us informed /forum/wink.gif
