Built new system. Abit BE6 MB. PIII 450.
WD 9.1GB 7200rpm ATA 66 hd. Installed Windows 2d edition. Installed HighPoint 366 ATA 66 driver from BE6 CD-ROM. Windows says driver is not properly configured, and is booting with Automatic Skip Device to ignore the ATA66 driver. Meantime my HD is in DOS compatibility mode, running I presume in PIO mode 4, and I am losing the benefits of the higher burst transfer rate. Please help if you know of any solution or have any
suggestions.

First try uninstalling any virus software.
Also, try identifying your drive as a scusi & see if that works.
Check the basics- right slot, right bios, 80 wire cable, right drivers, etc.

good luck, it will work eventually.
