I ran FDISK. Deleted all Partitions. Created a new partition. Rebooted. From DOS, tried to get to the C. Message said that "invalid media" Could someone please tell me how to effectively create a partitian. How do I name the drive to be partitioned. Obviously I am very ignorant, so please, give me any help that you possibly can.

This is the short version of the procedure you need to do. /forum/smile.gif
1. Fdisk (create partition or partitions) when done reboot
2. Format partition or partitions (format (type Format C: /S , then Format D:, E: ect) when done reboot
3. Proceed with installation of Operating System

Indepth...
Fdisk
bootup with "startup disk" at the A: type "FDISK"
choose YES (if running win95b or higher this will allow you to create partitions that are larger than 2 gigs (using Fat32)
next choose either option #1 or option#3 (depends on weither this is a new drive or a used drive that you want to change the partitions on)
After you have created or deleted and then created your partitition (Make sure you choose to set the partition ACTIVE on your primary partition (this will be inside of option#1)
when done exit from Fdisk and reboot (leave the startup disk in!) when you return to the A: type FORMAT C: /S when it is thru formating the "c" partition it will ask you to NAME it. Choose what you want. it will then return you to the A: do the FORMAT with D:, E: ect for how many partititons you created when using Fdisk. When done remove the startup disk and reboot...you should get a C: when you boot back up /forum/biggrin.gif (this is assuming that you have in the bios your startup set to A:,C: as the boot order.
Good luck
