Why is the lubricating strip you see on all but the cheapest disposable razors located at the top of the blade assembly and those silly little rubber blade things at the bottom?
http://www.moderngent.com/imgs/newblade.jpg
This means that the lubrication is applied after the blades have passed over the skin, not before.
Am I the only one that thinks this is bloody stupid.
The lubricating strip and rubber fins appear to have been created purely as a marketing tool to push sales giving the illusion of added value.

the rubber fins stretch the skin to give a closer shave! the lube strip is to help prevent irritation caused by the closer shave.

What a load of bollocks!
Read the reverse of just about any razor packaging and it states 'Do not stretch your skin while shaving' because it can cause ingrown hairs and stuff.
As for the lube, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't its stated purpose to lubricate the blades? Thats what all the adverts say.

Perhaps its for americans with their heads upside down in the sand...

If so, the rubber blades could be to scrape the sand off, but those lubricating things are still just pointless bait to get ppl to buy the product.

I shave my head regularly - using a Gillette ...Mach 3 ...Turbo ...GTI ...48valve ...supercharger ...Platinum Edition!

anyway - If I use the same blade for too many days & the lube strip runs out - I gets bumps on me noggin! so it does work. :p

Is the shaving foam not for lubrication?

And the lubricating strip is for if you want to go over the same area twice?

I don't need to bother with any fancy shaving cream. Just so long as I been under the shower for a few minutes, a cheapo double (or even single) razor does perfectly.
I've never had razor burn like some of you weak skinned pansies so any so-called soothing action of the lube strip (forgetting for a moment that it would all be washed away when you finish) is totaly wasted!

Aparently they now got these battery powered razors that vibrate. I bet they're gonna become almost as popular with young girls as those vibrating Harry Potter broomsticks we heard about not too long ago.

Maybe they don't even know and they put the rubber strip and the lube strip on the wrong sides and we're killing our brains over their fumbazzling up their razors.

Well you mucked the spelling up, but yes, I do think I'm a bit of a sear (seer). I can see into the future from time to time.
Like the other night, I ordered pizza and before it arrived I somehow knew that I'd have the dire rear the following day.
I was right too!
