Win98 mouse/keyboard won't recognize!

I am trying to install Win98 on a computer. The mouse and keyboard detect fine if I boot off of a floppy disk, but when the Win98 install finishes, and the computer boots off the HDD for the first time, both things refuse to operate at all! I have never seen this problem before. This is a great plea for help! Oh woe is me!!

i had problems with my ps/2 mouse working in win 98. not sure about your case but mine had something to do with the ACPI BIOS. try removing it under the device manger under the system devices tab and having windows detecting it again. but there are a lot more qualified people here to help you so I'd wait for their opinions
