A while ago, I used to use themexp.org for visual styles or themes for XP.
Now...everyone you download is an executable, and it wants to install new.net on your PC. That is nasty, nasty spyware to get rid of.
I can't believe the site has gone downhill like that.
I also went to a few others, but they all seem to be hooked on the .exe installer and new.net thing....what garbage.
Any good free sites that have visual styles or themes? Yes, I ran the uxtheme patcher on my XP SP2 box.
Thanks...
:)

The deviantart site is worth a look.
There is a Vista Theme from a French group I tried that was really good , but I can't find it at the moment .
Found it : Vista Inspirat (http://www.crystalxp.net/galerie/en.id.130.htm)

I quit downloading free themes. Cuz their gaaaraunteeed..... to have adware, spyware, adn allkindsof'ware' ****. Somebody may know of a site or two, but if it says free-I wouldn't belive 'em. 'Shareware is not freeware' How many times have you seen that. Go ahead click on it and download...they want you too. Once you say 'ok' you've just given them permission to hog your memory. If you haven't read the fine print, you should do so.
Sorry if ya' already knew that. It erks me to no end that everybodywants to install their own fricken search bar. And my kids don't read a dam_ thing! They just ckick away. Of course it's not all their fault, so does my wife. Althought she's gotten better about catching the ones that say "This will install....". I logged on to my desktop one time and there was four search engines active!! WTF. Went to add/remove programs and killed them all. Course now I'm gonna have to eventually Hunt the **** down. SUX.
Yep, it used to be you could download just about anything and not have to worry about it. I'm gonna watch this thread just to see if there is a good site.

That's why I said the ones from theme.org were .exe files.
All you need is the individual file...or, style file.
If you have to install it...just like you said, almost 100% gaurantee its got some junk in it...
Rocket...I'm heading over to looksie at that now.
Thanks much!!

Rocket...that Vista Inspirat is cool as heck. Gonna give it a whirl at work tomorrow. I've always like the MACish toolbar like that...
Thanks much!

It is pretty cool. It looks and feels a lot like Vista except all the drivers work properly. :)

Gave up on themexp a while back. For a while they had a few contributors that did not include the spyware; but I think they all do now. Made my kids stop using it too; getting rid of the **** it put on one of their pc's was a pain. They are definately going to like Vista Inspirat. :r
