I have the feeling that my IBM HD (13,5Gb, 7200 U/min, UDMA66 enabled and AMD IDE Drivers installed) is somehow
not working corrsctly. In the first Days the Drive ran very 'smooth' and quiet. But now it has become a lot louder
makes funny noises: When i start an app the drive performs well but after the apps was loaded
and the drive continues to make some noises although there is no HD activity. It does so
for about 100sec., the noise apperas in intervals of 3-10 sec (its difficult o describe that).
The Performance is great and S.M.A.R.T didnt report any errors but i somehow have the feeling
thats sth. is not ok.

any answer will be great,
thx

Athlon 500
Gigabyte 7IX v1.F1 (100% stable)
IBM HD 13,5 gb / 7200 (PrimaryMaster)

and another question: can anybody tell me his Memory BIOS Settings cause i'm sure you can get
some 0.x % by optimizing it manually .. and how do i find out if i have CAS-2 or CAS-3

You might try disconnecting the data cable and powering up (you won't boot. of course).
If you still have the noise, back-up and try to get A RMA, because you have a hardware problem that will only get worse.
