Is there a way to fix a CD that's broken...literally? I bought a new game off ebay (new in box though...commanche 4, well actually the action pack or whatever) and got it a few days ago. Anyways, I stuck it in my laptop back without a jewel case, forgot it was in there, long story short it's split going out from center on one half. Any ideas? This BTW is why full installs should be actual full installs that don't need the CD's those jerks.
Alternatively, anybody got a copy they want to sell cheap? I'm not going to buy it all over again, but if somebody has the game lying around and would let it go for a few bucks (like $10 including shipping) I'm all ears.

Virtually impossible to fix. I have stopped a very small crack on a cd once using a little super glue on the topside. Managed to get my data off and copied then got rid of the bad one. Two problems, the crack probably will cause read errors where it crosses data sectors. Also, CD drives spin a such a high speed, the cd is liable to disintegrate. I had one come apart in a drive a few years back and ruined the drive. Sounded like an explosion in my computer.

Some game manufacturers will replace the cd at a minimal cost , so I would check with them ...

If its a case of th egame being fully installed, but needing the Cd to be inserted to play - and the CD beign too damaged to do this, i woudl personally have no qualms reccomending you try looking for a no-cd crack for the game in order to allow you to run your software whiel you find an alternative CD/fix in the meantime

Try using CloneCD from slysoft.com to try and make a new copy of the cd
It might still be readable long enough to copy it .. if you try that however,
I suggest you slow down the Read Speed as far as you can .. the slower it
turns, the less likely it will fly apart before it can be copied and burned to a new cd

I thought clonecd got run out of business? I'll try contacting nova. I really doubt there is a no cd crack for this game, too old.
