I was going through my Award Bios (CMOS) screen and noticed my CPU was running at 91 degrees farenheit. Something I read awhile back leads me to believe this is high in a room with 68 degree temperature, running a 333MHz chip. I have an atx box with one small fan mounted in the rear-right by the power supply. I do not have the box open, but I believe it's an intake fan. Should I add a fan in the front of my box? My HD is a 13 GB 5400 rpm.

Thx.

Are you overclocking and do you have any heat sink/ fan combo on your processor?

What type of CPU do you have if it is a PentiumII they usually run at 65 deg C which is about 149 deg farenheit. Are you running a good CPU fan in your system? It wouldn't hurt to install another fan.

well, i know that amd chips run hotter than most chips so I would at least want to run it cooler than it is now, if I were you. Rip open your computer, look to see if there is a metal object on top of your cpu. There should also be a fan on top of that. If there is not, STOP USING THE COMPUTER!!!! Get some cooling supplies like a heatsink, a fan, and some thermal paste as soon as you can, because you could be damaging the cpu. I learned this the hard way. Go to some of the following sites for cooling stuff
www.computernerd.com (http://www.computernerd.com)
www.3dcool.com (http://www.3dcool.com)
www.3dfxcool.com (http://www.3dfxcool.com)

and then when you get it, install it. Use a thin layer of thermal paste on the heatsink.

Good luck......

I'm running a 333 MHz Celeron. Once I flashed (upgraded) the BIOS, it overclocked to 343 MHz on its own. I honestly don't know if the CPU is sitting on a heat sink. I'm a bit new at this. Regardless, is 91F a significantly high temperature for this chip?

Thx.
